The hand of an angel

After three solid weeks of washing bottle after bottle and pumping gadgets after pumping gadgets, my hands are screaming for help! They are dry, cracking, peeling, rough (and tough) and just not very prissy or feminine for that matter. Its almost like I have never washed a dish before. Okay, so maybe I use my dishwasher ALL OF THE TIME!

As I was flipping through my coupons the other night, I found one promoting a new product. "DAWN Hand Renewal with OLAY". I was desperate for some relief so I cut that coupon out as quick as I could with my hands splitting with each movement. ::Okay, that was dramatic, but it made it entertaining:: I got home and couldn't wait to wash my hands. It actually works! It makes my hand feel freshly manicured as if I just sat in a nail parlor and had someone massage my hands with tender care. Who am I kidding..I am going to get a real manicure....SEE YA!

(seriously, this stuff is an improvement from your everyday soap when you find your hands in the sink more than typing on the Internet and that's a LOT)

2 Weeks

Well, yesterday was a big day for Wy! We started the day bright and early with his 2 week check up. He is doing great! After leaving the hospital, we lost down to 7 lbs from 7.7. The Doctor expected Wyatt to be at his birth weight again. He was above his birth weight and now weighs a big 7 lb and 10 oz. He is my little chunk!

He is keeping his eyes open more and more each day, with yesterday being the exception. He had a rough night. We put him to bed at 9:30. He fussed until 2:30. My right arm was numb by then from holding his passi in his mouth for those 5 hours. Oh the joys of motherhood in the middle of the night.

I have anxiously been waiting for his umbilical cord to dry up and get lost! I have been so worried about getting is caught and pulling it off. The other night it got caught on his outfit and kept bleeding. The dr. put silver nitrate on the bleeding part and it finally fell off Thursday afternoon! YAY! We can take real baths now.

Speaking of real baths, we did that today! Wyatt LOVED it for the most part but said enough is enough!

So in a nutshell we are doing great and are loving our little man more and more everyday!

Back in the Briarcrest days, they tortured us and made us carry agendas. Ugh, can you even imagine. How humiliating...making a cool high schooler carry around a nerdy agenda and force them to write in it. Well, my friend, that was just the beginning of it all. I AM ADDICTED! You can ask anyone that was in Bible Ministry class with me about the time I left my agenda at St. Francis nursing home and I nearly had a come apart...what would I ever do without my agenda? It's my lifeline. Its my memory. Its my future. Oh my, I couldn't survive!

Here we are 14 years later and I still use my agenda. Seriously. I never throw them away from the past. You never know when you will want to look back 3 years ago and see what you were doing! Granted, I am not sure where they all are but I am sure I didn't throw them away....LALA? So what kind of agenda do I use that keeps me addicted? That would be the August to August Calendar Organizer. Love love love it.

It is always thrilling when August rolls around and I can rush to the local bookstore to purchase my yearly agenda and get to write everyones birthdays and such down. This year I actually did something different. I had some Bible verse stickers I ran across and decided to just randomly place them throughout the agenda. I remember doing this while talking on the phone. There was no strategy at all, just flip and stick. I think there were a total of 8 stickers.

A couple of days ago, I was flipping to January 8th to put Wyatt's Birthday down...I might forget. When I got to the date I had a sticker on that exact day. Here is what I found.

1 Week

Oh what a week it has been around the King house. We are settling in and adjusting to our new sleep schedule. Thank goodness for all of the help we had from lala when we first came home. It is amazing how busy you stay when you have to feed a baby, change a baby, pump, and sterilize all the materials. Whew, it can be exhausting.

Wyatt is doing great. If his overly protective, paranoid mother would just relax I would say we all were GREAT. It is super tough being a nurse and bringing a new baby home. I have tried to diagnose him with all sorts of things...lucky for us, it is all just my imagination thus far! :) He doesn't like to eat to much and really hates to suck. He is a lazy boy! We are working on those two things and he is improving little by little.

Laboring for a good cause...

Well you have heard the news by now, I am sure. Just in case you have not, I went into labor on January 7th around 5:45. I have to say it must have been those no-bake chocolate oatmeal cookies that I demanded of my mother! After timing my contractions for about an hour I decided that maybe we should go to the hospital and check it out. Of course I went and only had dilated 1 cm. They told me they would keep me over night to rest and induce in the am. This was the plan because there was no way that I would dilate on my own. Well someone was wrong and I did. Thank goodness I got my epidural at 2:30.

So now I would like to introduce you to Wyatt Leeton who is the new KING!

He was born on January 8, 2010 at 8:03 am.

We think he is absolutely the most precious little boy!

Fit For a King...

I think I had a blog a while back on the sleeping plans for W. If not, I will quickly update. The bassinet that I had when I was an infant is still in the family. I think about 10-12 babies have slept in it. As you can imagine, it is a little worn out. So we went to the Amish for some help!

After they made the bassinet, my father-in-law took care of the legs and the mattress. Which I might say is impressive that someone can make a mattress in their backyard shop...that's a story for another day.

Mom was next in line and let me just tell you, she always does things to the max. She was not playing! I told her I wanted it to be a "flowy" skirt with a blue bow. After several hours of dedicated tender loving care, she finished. I finally got to see the finished product after my Dr. today. Which by the way, we wont have a baby for a few more days! :(

Can you believe my mom made this, she amazes me! She is just the most fabulous La La a boy could as for.

umm, excuse me, yes! That is a SATIN sheet for the little man to sleep on.

Week 39

I never thought I would make it this long but lookey here...I did. I can't say I am overly tickled about it though.I got my weekly babycenter update and this is what it said..

"Your baby's waiting to greet the world! He continues to build a layer of fat to help control his body temperature after birth, but it's likely he already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, a mini watermelon. (Boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls.) The outer layers of his skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath."

Okay two things I would like address here. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not remind a pregnant woman that she is days away from birthing something that you just compared to a watermelon. Is it necessary to point out at this time that boys are slightly heavier than girls, I MEAN WHO CARES AT THIS POINT? Thanks babycenter, you really just helped me out with the poor emotional state that I am already in.

As if this were not enough for one day. Z and I head out to get some needed household items when the sweet lady approached me at Kroger..."SWEETIE, can I ask when you are due, bless your heart? I noticed you all the way from over there." I laughed and said oh 1 more week and she gave me a hug and continued with her ahh, bless your hearts. Z said it is pretty bad when people are giving you sympathy and you have never met them before! Such is life at 39 weeks....

We will be inducing next week if the little guy doesn't make a move! Pray with us that he does and he does SOON...it will be so much easier on him and his mommy! :)

Welcome 2010!

What can I say, it has been an amazing year. . .to say the least! :)

Z and I have so much to be thankful for this year!

We both continue to be blessed with jobs that we love. I still find myself nursing the elderly back to health or keeping them comfortable until they leave this world for a much happier place! Z is still a district manager for his company and has gained 3 stores over the year and opened one. He has total of 13 stores and about 30 employees.

I have now been pregnant for 9 months of the year. I am going to consider this a blessing. :) Hopefully our little man will decide he wants to come play very soon. I am very thankful for a very healthy pregnancy. I am one week away from being 40 weeks...OMG...pregnant.

Ole Miss athletics is a major part of our lives so it is a blessing that we have had a pretty decent football season. We look forward to starting this year again with the Cotton Bowl...Hotty Toddy.

We have very healthy families that have been very supportive of us as we prepare for W's arrival!

We are surrounded with wonderful friends.

We continue to attend FBC and really enjoy it. Unfortunately, with my work schedule, it keeps us from being active in a Sunday school class and going weekly but we plan on really working on this in 2010.

We hope that you have had a blessed 2009 and will have a fantastic 2o10!
