W has Physical therapy every Monday morning. Normally, I spring out of bed at 7:00 if W is sleeping and jump in the shower. I rush and rush. I wake W up, I force a bottle down and try to feed him a big breakfast. Then we rush around more to get ready to go see Mrs. Sally. Finally, we make it there and then it is play time! W loves Mrs. Sally and just giggles with her. He thinks her toys are sooo fun. She is great with him and constantly is correcting his movements. It is truly amazing how far he has come with his hand and crawling. He even tries to use his right had at times to eat, hold his bottle and grab at toys. This is huge since he began. His right hand was constantly "fisted" up. He now crawls with an partially open hand. I hope that he continues to find his therapy fun! After an hour of "playtime" we head home to eat lunch and then nap. He normally is exhausted and can barely make it thru lunch.
On Monday afternoons or Friday we have speech therapy. Ms. Jessica comes to our house which is so nice! The house still has to be clean and W still has to be rested and fed, but it saves us a drive. The first two months that we did ST, we worked on feeding issues. W did not like to suck and we were given some solutions to help. Now we are working on actually speech. Ms. J puts W in his bumbo and attempts to get him to mock her. Some days are better than others. He is working really hard and is making progress.
People can't imagine what you do with a 1 year old in therapy so here are some pictures to help you visualize it! All I can say is thank goodness for therapist that chose to work with kids. PATIENCE is all I can say.
